Food From Afghanistan is Yum

On Saturday, Blake and I went to Trista's going away dinner at the Afghan Horsemen Restaurant. It was our first time eating foods from Afghanistan. I have to say WOW!! some of the best food I have eaten in a long time. We had the Aush soup that was a special Afghan Noodle Soup, cooked in a mixture of onions, garlic, tomatoes, different herbs, mixed with yogurt & mint flakes and the Kabuli Palaw witch consist of Baked rice topped with Kabuli (sautéed carrots, raisins & almonds), served with spinach, cooked potato, cauliflower & Chaka (sour cream & yogurt dip)

For a long time, the Afghan Horsemen was the only restaurant of its kind in Canada. Similar in style to Indian, and with dishes that resemble Greek salad and hummus, Afghan cuisine bears closest resemblance to Persian food with its milder flavours and wonderful use of rice.

It was delicious and wonderful and even got to use the traditional Afghan manner with low tables and cushions on the floor. We can't wait to go back and eat some more.

Correcting a Mistake

So I mixed up some information about my recent post on a short film from Melodrama Pictures. They actually stated this on the comment section.

"While I love the film MIDDLE DOG GETS ANGRY, I'm afraid I can't take credit for it. It was made by English animator George Gendi who works with a company in the UK called Sherbet www.sherbet.co.uk/directors/georgeGendi/. You can check out the new film Adam Elliot and are are doing at www.maryandmax.com - should be live next week. best wishes Melanie of Melodrama Pictures

I'm sorry for the mix up and thank you Melodrama for giving me the right information. The film is still amazing and the creator George Gendi is amazing as well. I guess this is what happens when your tired and your looking at a website and assume the film on it was the company's film. Next time, I need to do better research for the posts.

Happy 1 month!!!!

Today, it's me and Blake's 1 month anniversary. We can't believe its been one month already. We celebrated by having pasta and our wedding wine.

What also made this day more great was the fact that I am now going to school full time for 3D animation because I have the best in-laws in the world. They are going to pay for the schooling for me and I can't tell them how much it means to me and how excited I am to go learn 3D. Thanks Ben and Linda!!!!!!! So, I guess I have four great parents because I know my parents are awesome because they helped me out with my first couple of years of college and with anything else in Blake and I's life. We are very grateful and we hope to make them proud. We both love our parents.

Coraline Trailer (sneak Peak)

Anyone who knows Nicole is that she loves Stop-motion. We have been counting down the months until Coraline comes out and Nicole found a new trailer for it.

Some things that are going on

Today, I got my acceptance letter to the Part time 3D class at VanArts. Blake and I are very excited for that because I really want to learn 3D to advance my career and money doesn't allow me to do full time but this is a start.Blake and I also received our marriage certificate in the mail today, so we are officially married. No turning back now :)

My final point for today is I found a great little short about three characters making music. The style is cool and unique witch I enjoy. It was made at Melodrama Pictures in Australia who helped create the Academy Award winning short Harvie Krumpet You can check out the short here

Pets and Rentals

I found this article about Pets and Renting in British Columbia. The BC SPCA believes that if landlords were aware of the significant benefits of pet-friendly housing, they would be more inclined to offer it. You can find a toolkit that may help you and your pet when looking for a new place as well.

Open Season

Last night, Blake and I rented Open Season because I bought this Maya book with these characters in it. We enjoyed it :) We both thought the graphic look was cool and the film made us both laugh. We did feel sorry for the bunnies though :(

The Dark Knight

Nicole and I went to the theater and watched The Dark Knight this weekend. I will go as far as saying it is THE best Batman movie of all time! Yes, Tim Burton's were good - you couldn't have this one without his contributions, but we really enjoyed this film. We recommend this film to everyone! Drop whatever you are doing right now and go see it!!!

The Beginning

Its official, Blake and I got married on July 25th at the Town & Country Inn. This Blog is going to be about our lives from our art to our everyday encounters.

After our wedding, Blake and I went to Harrison Hot Springs for a couple of days for our honeymoon. We had lots of fun.

Even Spongebob came to the honeymoon.

Our Hotel at Harrison

We also saw The 3rd Annual Tournament of Sand Sculpture Champions Competition

Our spoons were touching. How romantic.

Our Room

Our wedding bands

Drinking some red wine on our balcony looking out to the lake.

There wasn't much vegetarian options at Harrison so me and Blake bought some delicious Havarti cheese, blue cheese, Brie cheese, Gouda cheese, red grapes, crackers, bread and green apples and ate that. It was so good!!! mmmmmmm!!!!

Goodbye Harrison

I also want to make a note and saying Thank you all for the wedding gifts. We used some of the money to buy a new camera after the honeymoon.

Canon EOS Rebel XSI

We will be using the rest of the money for Blake's immigration PR fees. Besides Cash we got some kitchen stuff such as plates, casserole dish, food processor, glasses, knifes and tea accessories. Which is great because we love to cook. Well, we are glad the wedding is done so we can move on and focus on our creative parts of our lives.
